Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin has been an actress across Canada and New Zealand for over a decade. She was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington Paquin made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11 which makes her the second youngest winner of the award in Oscar history. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster in the category of Best Supporting actress for playing the enthusiastic and curious child of Holly Hunter's lead character on the film The Piano. The actress was chosen to play Flora McGrath the daughter of the mute Scottish pianist who in the mid-19th century moves back to New Zealand for an arranged marriage when she responded to an open audition call when she was just nine years old. She had little prior experience in acting. As a teenager her family left Canada to the United States. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part as Jane Eyre in the film when she was only a child. Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a smaller character. The actress played teenagers as teens in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). In addition, she portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
